Individually quick frozen blueberries. Harvested at peak ripeness from our farms and frozen the same day. Our blueberries are packed to strict quality standards and contain no additional ingredients like preservatives, sugars or additives. Just as the ingredient statement notes, this product is only blueberries. These frozen blueberries are frozen within 5 hours of harvest, meaning product is picked at the farm level and frozen the same day. The speed at which product is processed along with strict cold chain requirements ensures product is at peak perfection once it is packaged into a Member’s Mark bag. It takes 5 years for a northern highbush blueberry to reach full maturity and production. Each year our farmers take extreme care to ensure the blueberry plants are receiving the right amount of water and nutrients, they are also pruned to improve overall size of blueberries prior to the harvest season. When summer comes blueberries start as a flower, these flowers are then pollinated by honey bees, mason bees and a host of local pollinators. Once pollinated the flowers can start the amazing process of turning into a blueberry, buds turn into a green berry, progress to red and finally turn the wonderful blue color when they reach full maturity.
