About this item

Build a better Reuben sandwich with Schwebel's Rheuben Rye Bread. The best Rueben sandwich starts with great bread. Schwebel's Rheuben rye bread is a cut above the rest, packed with the taste of caraway seeds to bring out the best in deli sandwiches, from classic Reubens and beyond. The bread is baked fresh and thinly sliced to build the ideal sandwich.

What Makes Schwebel's Rheuben Rye Bread Special?

The key component to good rye bread is rye flour. Schwebel's rye bread features rye flour blended with whole wheat flour for a fantastic taste and texture. The bread is sliced thin for single and double-decker sandwiches, but dense enough to hold up to everything that goes into a Reuben sandwich, including moist ingredients like saurkraut and Thousand Island dressing, the traditional Reuben sandwich dressing. Schwebel's Rheuben rye bread is a great base for dozens of different deli sandwiches, including classic cold cuts and hot sandwiches. Each loaf contains 2.25 lbs. of Schwebel's rye bread.

Schwebel's Bread Company, an American Classic for More Than a Century

Youngstown, Ohio has been home to several American gastronomic icons, including Good Humor and Handel's Homemade ice creams, as well as the headquarters of Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips and the first-ever Arby's restaurant. Schwebel's Bread Company has been its longest-lasting business, first opening its doors back in 1906.

Back then, Schwebel's was a husband-and-wife business and fresh bread was sold from door to door. Today, Schwebel's has blossomed into one of the biggest, independent, family-owned bakeries in the country, producing nearly one million packaged bread daily for the restaurant and retail markets. Schwebel's makes dozens of different varieties, including sliced Italian bread, multigrain and cinnamon raisin, but Schwebel's rye bread remains a perennial favorite.
