The growing season on Red Mountain started with mild spring temperatures and bud break slightly earlier than normal. Temperatures in early summer warmed significantly, and stayed warm through July and August, with few heat extremes allowing the fruit to develop to full ripeness. Relatively good weather at the end of September and in early October helped complete ripening and produced wines with complex aromatics, good color and elegant tannins.
