Tankless water heaters provide consistent temperatures, though like collection-tank heaters they can run out of hot water under heavy usage conditions.

Tankless Water Heater Types

Tankless water heaters like those from Eccotemp rely on gas or electric connections for operation. Electric water heaters feature an element that heats the water as it passes over it. Gas water heaters have a burner that heats the water to the desired temperature. There are also propane-powered water heaters that are ideal for RVs and other outdoor areas. Both gas and electric water heaters use up to 30-percent less energy than a traditional collection tank model.
