We looked at a lot of pergolas, canopies, and pavilions before we saw this one on clearance and bought it because of the pleasing design and value pricing. Challenging assembly for 2 people. The directions have you assemble the top (no big deal), then it says "add the legs." That's it. Okay, just how do you do that without 4 NBA players to hold the assembled top unit up for the 40 minutes it takes to add them? Our answer was to put the assembled top on its side and add two legs, then flip it over (NOT easy) and add the other two legs. The problem? Getting it upright after that without damaging/bending the legs! In the end, my husband got it upright but it was a nail-biter. 3-star quality because it's made of the typical "coated" aluminum seen everywhere these days. It's not heavy and definitely needs to be bolted down. On the plus side there are pre-drilled holes for bolting it to a deck. FYI - We love the space it creates, but could find no custom canopy or fabric walls/screened enclosures. The top has a lovely design and we wanted to keep the light and view but still have a cover for rain (shade is not an issue for us), so searched for a "12 x 12 heavy duty premium clear tarp" and 6" ball bungee tie-downs and those work great as a roof cover. Yes, this is a 10 x 10 pavilion but the 12-foot tarp fits because of the pitch of the top. Also found Coleman canopy replacement sides and they work well for privacy. Overall, it's more solid than other pavilions/pergolas at this price point (it was on clearance when we got it), so a good value. Not sure how long it will last as we had a swing made of the same material and it rusted, but our deck chairs are fine after 6 years and they are also the same material.
